The Extravaganza
To wrap up the season, Oper Frankfurt invites you to an extraordinary concert event at the Bockenheimer Depot. This event, which is a combination of an orchestral concert and a dance party, begins with the audience being greeted at the entrance by the relaxed sounds of a small jazz combo and General Music Director Thomas Guggeis on the piano. Then, the Frankfurt Opera and Museum Orchestra performs, and the actual concert begins.
The program includes Morton Gould’s Tap Dance Concerto, with David Friederich as the tap dancing soloist, as well as other orchestral works, arias, and hits from the 1920s and 1930s by composers such as Ernst Fischer, Eduard Künneke, and Paul Abraham. Another highlight is a rousing performance of Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin, with Thomas Guggeis on piano.
During the second half of the concert, audience members are invited to dance to the music of the large orchestra. Those who still want more can continue the fun by “dancing into summer” to the music of Timcat.
Aileen Schneider, the 2022 Hesse Poetry Slam champion, will host the evening. FRANKFURTER NEUE KÜCHE will provide drinks and snacks.
